Seminar overview

Mental health issues are common. Nearly 1 in 5 adults in England reported experiencing symptoms of common mental health issues (such as anxiety, depression and panic) in the previous week. Supporting mental health in the workplace is not just a corporate responsibility; staff who have positive mental health are more productive and businesses who promote a progressive approach to mental health can see a significant impact on business performance, so it’s about good business too.

To improve awareness of mental health issues in the workplace and provide your employees with practical knowledge and tools to support good mental health in their colleagues and themselves, Fitways have teamed up with Mental Health Now to provide Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England courses for our clients on their premises. MHFA is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

This course gives participants:

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix

  • A course manual (detailed information on course syllabus, helpful summaries of skills learnt, useful statistics and further resources)
  • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support their own mental health
  • A certificate issued by MHFA England to confirm they are a qualified Mental Health First Aider
